HotShot

The World’s First Electric Metal Sheath Dispersion Unit

CEL Advanced Technologies Group engineers developed HotShot after numerous other plant production improvements couldn’t address the time consuming and costly process of removing the metal sheaths from mineral insulated cable and the metal over-braid from insulated wire.

Hotshot uses electrical discharge to instantly strip both the outer sheath from mineral insulated cable and the metal over-braid from insulated wire. Conductor wires are exposed in seconds, virtually eliminating hand stripping and the associated labor costs.

This innovative unit uses a handheld device to strip mineral insulated cable sheath diameters .010, .020, .032, .040, and .062. A second handheld device strips the metal over-braid insulated wire in the same manner.

Hotshot requires 110VAC, is 46” high, 26.5” wide and 26.5” deep and the unit is equipped with wheels for easy relocation.

To operate you select the material type and its diameter on the front panel, insert the wire into the handheld, wait for the ready light that signals it is ready and squeeze lightly to activate. After HotShot strips the sheath, any excess insulating powder is easily removed and the conductors are ready for termination. The Hotshot will recharge and be ready to strip again in seconds.

Rodger Shepherd, VP Advanced Technologies Group stated, “Cleveland Electric Labs produces thousands of thermocouples each month in our Cleveland and Phoenix plants and HotShot is saving us thousands of production hours and significant costs.”
